Being fine with assertiveness

Today I said sorry for being blunt after I received an unwanted phone call.

I was called by my alumni association at my university to discuss what the uni has been up to (Aka they wanted money). After I politely declined 3 times their request (having said that, the caller wasn’t aggressive at all and seemed like a nice young guy), but at the end, I thanked him for his time and said sorry for being blunt, as I was running between events.

I’m writing this to remind myself that it’s okay to be blunt and direct if you’ve been kind and considerate of your time, while obviously not being rude to the caller. At the end of the day, this was an unwanted call at a less than convenient hour.

Being assertive in a situation like this would have been a better approach.
