Blackberry and innovation

I read that Blackberry were acquiring Cylance, an AI cybersecurity firm.

I still remember my first “smartphone” – a blackberry that I thought I’d stick with for a long time. I got used to the interface and the keyboard, and never felt a need to change.

Until better came along. The thing is, better will inevitably come along. You just need to make sure the “better” comes from you, and not a competitor or a new upstart. This is what happened to Blackberry – they’re now investing in new markets and out the smartphone game.

Ironically, this could be a good move for them. But they were first, and let it slip. Let’s see what happens.
